FAQ's

Where are you located?

I'm based in Fresh Meadows, Queens NY.

What are your business hours?

Since I currently don't have a store-front bakery, all consultations, bookings are done by appointment at a location of your choice or through phone or email.

How much do you charge for cakes?

All cakes are priced per serving, depending on the complexity of the design, flavor, ingredients and the time it takes to make the cake. I also offer smaller cakes (6 inch and 8 inch round), please see the menu for prices and flavors.

Why do you charge more than a cake that I can get from BJ's, Costco, Walmart or other local supermarkets?

I do not mass produce cakes and as much as I want to keep the cost of my cakes at par with supermarket prices, I simply just cant. All my cakes are made to order with fresh ingredients and customized to your needs and requests, so think of it as a showpiece instead of just a regular sheet cake.

What kind of cakes or design can you do?

I would love to say that I can do everything but that's not being honest, I simply cannot make cakes fly. What I do know is I love to challenge myself with different designs and make your vision into reality. During consultation you can either bring a picture or an inspiration or we can simply brainstorm so we can create a design that will suit you best.

Do you offer consultations?

Yes I do, it can be done over the phone, Skype, email, or in person. I do recommend in person consultations for large orders (wedding cakes, sweet 16, etc...). If time is something you don't have I'll find a way to meet you.

What happens during a consultation?

Consultations will normally run an hour at most,  I will go over with you the details of your event such as the type of occasion, number of people, preferred flavor, etc... Please feel free to bring a picture, inspirations or themes that you want to incorporate in your design.

How do I place an order for a wedding or an occasion cake? How far in advance should I place an order?

For occasion cakes for 50 people or less 2 to 3 weeks in advance should be sufficient time.

For wedding cakes and other tiered cakes with complex design,  I recommend at least 3 months out before the event.

You can either contact me here or call me directly.

Do you require a deposit?

I require 50% deposit on all booked orders and the remainder of the balance two weeks before the event.

Undecided or still torn? I can hold date for you for a week and with a $25.00 deposit(non refundable).

Do you offer tastings?

Yes, I offer cake tastings for orders with a minimum serving of 75.  It's $50.00 for the tasting, which is non-refundable.  Should the client decide to book with me and lock in the date, half of the payment which is $25.00 will be applied to the balance.

What is fondant?

How do I say this in simple terms... Fondant is another type of icing with the same consistency as play doh. You can do a lot of things with fondant such as sculpt, create models, sugar flowers, etc... aesthetically it gives a cake a WOW factor. Most modern cake designs often use fondant.

Why does fondant covered cake cost more?

Although it seems like it is easier to use than say regular buttercream icing, fondant covered cakes actually takes a lot of time because cakes are iced twice. First with buttercream and then the fondant. Not to mention kneading the fondant can be very labor intensive.

Can I provide fresh flowers for my cake?

Yes, you definitely can but please make sure to consult with a professional florist before deciding which flowers to put on the cake, some flowers may be unsafe or poisonous and even unhygienic. With this, I recommend using sugar flowers for your cake, it looks real and it's also edible.

Can you create a fake cake display and serve regular sheet cakes for a wedding?

Being a bride before I also contemplated on this idea, have an elaborate cake display made out of Styrofoam and just serve sheet cake. In all honesty, you are probably going to save money but not by a lot. Keep in mind that the same decorating materials and time will still be used in making this "cake" and a sheet cake priced per person still has to be made. But if you really want to do this, I will guide you the best way I can.

What are your payment methods?

I accept cash, check, money orders and Paypal for deposits.

For final payment I request to have the payment in cash or check payable 2 weeks before the event.

Do you deliver?

Yes,  I currently deliver within the 5 boroughs, Nassau area and some parts in the Suffolk County area. Delivery fee applies.

Can I pick up my order?

If you choose to pick up your order please take into account the size of the cake, the transportation (level space to place cake, cold temperature for hot days, road conditions)Once the cake leaves my facility my liability for it ends as well. I request you sign a waiver upon pick up and I cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by transit or if the cake is moved during set up. Remember transporting a tiered cake is tricky so I recommend to have it delivered and set up.
